MasterChef contestant Justin clashes with judge Jock Zonfrillo over the colour of a dish
In the final brigade challenge, Justin clashes with judge Jock over a disagreement about the colour of a dish.
Thursday night’s episode of MasterChef sees the final team go head-to-head with a brigade of top chefs from Melbourne.
In a clip shared with news.com.au, it becomes known that one of the challenges is for a dish to be the colour red.
Cooking against Stokehouse kitchen, the MasterChef team already have their work cut out for them, so judge Jock Zonfrillo checks up on them to make sure they’re on track.
When doing so, he wonders if their dish of prawns is red at all, stating that it is definitely more on the orange side.
“We’ve got some grilled prawns for entree,” states team leader, Sabina.
“This is red?” Jock asks.

“Make sure it’s red and not orange,” he continues. “Not orangey-red.”
Sabina then tells the judge that they have done a test plate, and they are in fact “happy with it”.
“Where is it? Can I try it?” asks Jock.
This is when a debate erupts between Jock and contestant Justin.
“Is it red?” asks Jock.
“Yeah, does that look red?” Justin answers.
“Is it red or orange,” Jock replies.
“It looks red,” Justin fires back. “It’s the same colour as a tomato.”
Handing the plate to Jock, he completely disagrees, giving Justin a knowing look.
“You can’t be serious, that’s red,” says Justin.

To the camera, Justin continues. “I’m questioning whether I’m colour blind or not at this point. It looks red to me. Maybe it’s orange. I don’t know.”
“Go and get me a carrot,” Jock asks Justin, to prove his point more.
Justin in disbelief grabs both a carrot and a tomato to show Jock and compare his dish to.

“What’s it closer to?” asks Jock.
“It’s in the middle,” says Justin.
A frustrated Jock doesn’t agree. “Mate, the challenge is red.”
Justin quickly apologises, sensing Jock’s annoyance. “Sorry, we will work on it.”
“Orange is an option,” says Jock. “But I don’t think you’re going to hit the brief.”
“I can’t serve an orange sauce,” Justin tells the camera, heading to the pantry to reassess his dish.
“If we serve an orange entree that’s missing the brief completely. We know what happens when you miss the brief. Means you’re packing your bags and you’re out of here.”
