Collingwood vice-captain Taylor Adams has quietly become engaged to his long-time partner Ellie Thornycroft.
The good news comes after a big few weeks for Adams who celebrated his 200th game in the win over Port Adelaide in Round 19.
Adams also celebrated back in Melbourne after that match with a small gathering of Collingwood players and their partners.
He popped the question in Daylesford while family was there for the weekend.
Thornycroft, a paediatric speech pathologist, has accompanied Adams to many Brownlow Medals and Copeland Trophy nights since he joined the Magpies from GWS over a decade ago.
The couple has also been working on their first home renovation.
Adams, 29, spoke from the heart after the side’s incredible win over Port Adelaide, saying he loves playing with the group who are top of the ladder despite two recent losses.
“This group is different. We never give up,” he said.
“I’m a bit overwhelmed to be honest, this group means so much to me.”
He ended the interview: “Huge belief. Just love this group mate.”
