SYDNEY is becoming surf central for the next fortnight with the world’s best and brightest young stars stealing the thunder from their male counterparts as they create waves in two major events.
American pro surfer Sage Erickson will jump off her board to strut the red carpet with the likes of Australian Laura Enever and rising star Macy Callaghan at this Friday’s Garnier Celebration of Women in Surf Gala Dinner at Manly.
The event, organised by pro surfer Sally Fitzgibbons, is to honour Australia’s eight female world champions with the likes of Tyler Wright and Layne Beachley on hand for the event.
The following week from November 3-6 the surfers will be joined by around 85 young guns from around the world at the Sydney International women’s pro, the centrepiece of Fitzgibbons’ inaugural International Beach Festival at Cronulla.
The surf event will help determine some of the surfers to compete on the 2017 world tour.
The beach festival has numerous events open to the public, including a run and swim. To enter and for further details go to www.internationalbeachfestival.com.au
