And they’re off to see the wizard … in LA.
The all-star cast of much hyped Hollywood flick Wicked has left Sydney after a whirlwind few days of promotion.
But not before one last happy snap at one of the harbour city’s most iconic locations.
Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Jonathan Bailey and Jeff Goldblum stopped by Mrs Macquarie’s Chair for a photograph in front of the Sydney Opera House before heading to the airport.
Marissa Bode and Ethan Slater have also been in town as part of the tour.
Hundreds of fans waited eagerly in anticipation for one last opportunity to catch a glimpse of the stars, including Tianna Joy and Amy Jones, who flew in from Adelaide to see their idol, Grande.
They’d missed out on seeing Grande after camping out for the Australian premiere on Sunday at the State Theatre and have spent the past few days waiting outside her hotel but again didn’t see her.
“She is a big deal,” Joy, 31, told The Daily Telegraph.
“I’ve just always looked up to Ariana. I am a burns survivor – I was in a house fire when I was a baby – so her music has helped me through surgeries and stuff. It is a dream come true to meet her today.”
Jones, 26, said: “I grew up watching her on Nickelodeon and just watching Tianna go through everything, seeing what her music bought to Tianna has inspired me.”
Sydney was the first stop in the global promotional tour with the cast now on their way to Los Angeles for a premiere there. They then travel to Mexico, New York and London for events.
Wicked opens in cinemas on November 23 and will see Grande play Glinda the Good Witch and Erivo as Elphaba the Wicked Witch.
The story is set in the Wizard of Oz universe and is based on 1996 novel, Wicked, and the groundbreaking 2003 musical.
