Why pregnant reality star publicly thanked body shaming trolls

Reality star Jules Robinson has taken a bold stance on body shaming trolls online. Instead of lashing out, she thanked them. Here’s why.

Why pregnant reality star thanked body shaming trolls

Jules Robinson has hit back at the brutal trolling she received after sharing her Demi Moore pregnancy style photo shoot.
The Daily Telegraph on Monday published images of the entrepreneur, media identity and reality star showing off her baby belly as she’s nearing the birth of her second child.

And the trolls rolled in. Comments on her social media were harsh, with some claiming the images were airbrushed and altered.

Photographer Deanna Gaynor initially shared a response to Instagram highlighting the fact Robinson’s skin had not been doctored in the shots.

“It’s disheartening to see that pregnant women would be trolled and bullied for capturing their beautiful journey and wanting to share that so others build the confidence to do the same,” Gaynor wrote.

“Being unsupportive and cruel doesn’t just hurt them; it reveals a lot about you. If belittling others makes you feel better, it’s time to reflect and seek help.

“Just for the record, Jules skin is NOT photoshopped in this image.

“Yes I do use photoshop but she specifically asked me not to do any skin retouching, so what you see is creative lighting, camera exposure and saturation and colour balance and temperature and aperture at play.

“I won’t accept her being bullied for this image, it’s simply disgraceful. This image is ART and if you don’t like it, keep your opinions to yourself.”

Robinson, who already has a son with Married At First Sight husband Cameron Merchant, shared the post on her feed and thanked Gaynor for the support.

Confidential has chosen not to repeat the negative comments on Robinson’s post.

Speaking to Confidential, she said: “I’m not surprised by the harsh comments, and I’m not upset, as I know that my story and my actions help and inspire many women.

Robinson, 42, shared the images in the hope of continuing the body positivity message she has long espoused.

Hollywood star Moore changed the game when she appeared nude in an iconic cover shoot of Vanity Fair magazine in 1991, showing off her very pregnant belly in the photographs by Annie Leibovitz.

Since then, countless women have celebrated their pregnant bodies by posing for similar shoots, among them Serena Williams, Rihanna, Britney Spears, Kourtney Kardashian and Claudia Schiffer.

“I’m embracing this time, the change, my body and celebrating all the hard work I have done and did to get to this point,” she said.

“And the intention was to give hope to anyone trying out there, especially the women on the other end of 30s and 40s to never stop believing what your body is capable of and to maybe capture this time too.”

She continued: “I thank the trolls for making this topic get global attention and reinforce that being unkind and nasty isn’t cool.

“Society encourages us to be empowered women and to empower other women but when it’s displayed in true form, the hate comes in so much harder.

“All that matters to me is the positive impact I can make.”
