IS this the greatest image of the gender hypocrisy in showbiz?
Yesterday the stars of spy thriller Red Sparrow attended a photo call for the film, starring Jennifer Lawrence, in London and the event garnered serious attention — but not for the reason they had hoped.
Pictures from the media call show Lawrence flanked by her hunky Red Sparrow co-stars Joel Edgerton, Jeremy Irons and Matthias Schoenaerts and director Francis Lawrence, on a balcony of London overlooking the Thames and the London Eye.
While her male co-stars were rugged-up in winter coats and multiple layers — Edgerton wearing two coats — The Hunger Games star showed serious skin in a plunging Versace dress with thigh-high split.
The UK is still in the middle of winter at the moment, with maximum London temperatures this week hovering around 3 to 9C.
The photo received some comical and critical comments online.
“True equality means either Jennifer Lawrence getting a coat, or Jeremy Irons having to pose for a photocall in assless chaps,” UK media personality Helen Lewis tweeted.
“For those of you dreaming of a career in showbiz,” another user wrote, while one commented: “The Cold Never Bothered Me Anyway”.
This is the latest headline involving Lawrence this week.
After the BAFTAs Lawrence was criticised over an “in joke” with veteran actor Joanna Lumley which was deemed rude.
She has since explained and defended her comments.
The star has also caused a stir for a rumoured romance with Australian co-star Edgerton.
