TV personality Carissa Walford is the latest celebrity to sign on as a Starlight Foundation ambassador, joining the likes of Delta Goodrem, Billy Slater and David Campbell.

And while she’s interviewed some of the biggest names in entertainment, nothing is as confronting and rewarding as her latest role.

“I have always been a part of Starlight through my performing arts day and would go and sing or dance at the hospitals,” Walford said.

“If I can do even something little like to see them smile or laugh, it is totally worth it.”

The former Channel V presenter, who will this week jet out of Sydney in a bid to make her mark on LA, will continue to lend her support to the formidable charity while overseas.

“There are many things that Starlight is involved with ... and Starlight started in LA so I will be doing some stuff over there whenever they need me.”

Walford said working with such inspiring children was an eye-opener.

“Until you walk into those hospitals, you don’t realise how healthy you are,” she said.

“It gives you a massive reality check.

“These kids are the happiest, most amazing-spirited kids as well.

“If there is one minute they don’t have to think about being in hospital, that’s what it’s all about.”
