Weddings, babies & broken hearts: Where are couples from The Bachelor?

From a love triangle that shocked the nation to an outrageous finale with no winner. This is what every Bachelor couple is up to now.

Dating Advice: Red flags to look out for on a first date

Despite lacklustre ratings throughout its latest season, reality TV show The Bachelor has had some notable success over the years.

From Tim and Anna to Sam and Snezana, five out of nine couples are still going strong and overall the dating show has produced two weddings, an engagement and five babies.

Here are the couples who got their fairytale endings and whose relationships ended in tears.

SEASON 1: TIM ROBARDS AND ANNA HEINRICH

Tim Robards and Anna Heinrich found love on the inaugural season of The Bachelor and eight years on, the couple are still going strong.

Bondi chiropractor Robards, 38, popped the question to the Sydney criminal lawyer, 34, in 2017 and the couple tied the knot the following year in a lavish ceremony in Italy.

Since appearing on the reality dating show, both of their careers have flourished.

Robards achieved his dream of becoming an actor after being cast on long-running soap Neighbours and Heinrich had her own TV stint on Trial By Kyle along with lucrative ambassadorships with brands like Olay.

However, their biggest achievement has been becoming parents with the pair welcoming their first child, a baby girl named Elle, in November last year.

SEASON 2: BLAKE GARVEY, SAM FROST AND LOUISE PILLIDGE

It was the love triangle that saw former Bachelor Blake Garvey labelled “Australia’s most hated man” by reality TV fans.

The former real estate auctioneer infamously proposed to winner Sam Frost during the 2014 finale before abruptly changing his mind and dumping her for second runner-up Louise Pillidge.

Garvey and Pillidge eventually had the same fate and ended their romance after 18 months.

“The negativity has been draining, plus it took months to deal with the fact I was Blake’s third choice of partner,” Pillidge said at the time.

After a brief stint on Celebrity Apprentice, Garvey, 38, admittedly struggled with his mental health and eventually retreated from public life altogether — leaving barely any trace on social media.

He now lives a quiet life in Perth working as a sales representative for a real estate company in Leederville.

He was previously linked to former Crown Towers employee Tania Mondon, 26, although it’s unclear if they’re still romantically involved.

Meanwhile, Frost, 32, has well and truly moved on after finding love with navy diver Dave Bashford. More recently however, she has been linked to personal trainer Jay Bruno. She later launched a career in radio before dabbling in acting and was cast in Home And Away.

Her former love rival Pillidge, 33, is single and works as a digital creator on the Gold Coast.

SEASON 3: SAM AND SNEZANA WOOD

Melbourne personal trainer Sam Wood began a long-distance relationship with his chosen winner Snezana Markoski after they fell in love during filming in 2015.

The couple welcomed a baby girl named Willow in 2017 and tied the knot in Byron Bay the following year — becoming the first Bachelor couple to get married.

The former couple ended their tumultuous relationship in 2017 after less than a year together and Nation, who later came out as bisexual, hinted at the extent of their problems on Bachelor in Paradise when she claimed she was left alone “to do something that involved both of us.”

At the time, Strahan expressed his disappointment.

“Having something dissolve the way it did was heartbreaking, but at the same time, there was a lot of relief that the emotional rollercoaster was finally over,” he said.

On Tuesday, Nation, 30, announced her engagement to Carson Jory, who is the father of her second son Max — born last month.

She also has a 10-year-old son Elijah from a previous relationship.

Ritchie, 36, found love with 29-year-old Jenayah Thompson in Perth last year, however, it’s unclear if they’re still dating.

SEASON 5: MATTHEW JOHNSON AND LAURA BYRNE

Former Nova co-host Matthew Johnson (aka “Matty J”) had fans cheering when he presented winner Laura Byrne with a promise ring during the season 5 finale.

Johnson, 34, had his heart broken on the Bachelorette finale the year prior and collapsed in agony after being dumped by Georgia Love on national television so viewers were thrilled to see him finally find his “happily ever after” after with Byrne.

The couple announced they were expecting their first child in 2018 after a devastating miscarriage.

Four weeks before Byrne, 35, was due to give birth she announced she got engaged to Johnson on their babymoon in Fiji, but later said he didn’t actually propose.

“So he gets down on one knee, but he doesn’t really get down on one knee, he’s still crying. His knee literally touches the sand and he gets straight back up and then that was it,” she said on her Life Uncut podcast.

“He didn’t say anything Then he pulled a ring out and said some really nice things about how much he loves me blah blah blah and it was all very cute, but he never actually said ‘Will you marry me’ and maybe that’s why we’re still not married two and a half years later.”

The couple soon welcomed a daughter Marlie Mae and earlier this year they had a second child named Lola.

SEASON 6: NICK CUMMINS, BRITTANY HOCKLEY AND SOPHIE TIEMAN

Season six ended in one of the most controversial finale’s to date when former rugby star Nick Cummins chose no one.

Nicknamed “The Honey Badger”, Cummins sparked viewer backlash in 2018 after leaving both finalists Brittany Hockley and Sophie Tieman in tears however, he stood by his decision to stay single.

“It hit me with a fair bit of a thunderbolt. It was just like, you know what? Out of respect to these women, if I can’t stand here and say ‘I’m picking her and I love her,’ why would I start something with someone?” he said.

Cummins, 33, found love with jewellery designer Alexandra George last year and the couple recently moved into their Broadbeach Waters home which he purchased for $775,000 two years ago.

Meanwhile, Hockley, 33, now a podcaster, is dating tennis player Jordan Thompson, 27.

Tieman, 27, announced her engagement to her longtime boyfriend Joe last year.

SEASON 7: MATT AGNEW AND CHELSIE MCLEOD

Melbourne Astrophysicist Matt Agnew announced his split with winner Chelsie McLeod just two months after their fairytale finale aired.

The pair appeared to be smitten while doing obligatory media rounds after the season wrapped but they abruptly called it quits soon after.

“For Chels and me, our relationship hasn’t translated from filming to the real, everyday world as we had hoped … It’s no one’s fault, it’s just life,” Agnew said.

McLeod, 29, recently celebrated her one year anniversary with model boyfriend Ricki Dehaan.

Meanwhile Agnew, 33, recently underwent a dramatic transformation and told fans that he’s very much single.

He works and studies part-time.

SEASON 8: LOCKY GILBERT AND IRENA SRBINOVSKA

They instantly hit it off upon meeting on The Bachelor and as fate would have it, Locky Gilbert and Irena Srbinovska were eventually crowned the season 7 couple.

Despite facing some struggles in their relationship, including a devastating miscarriage, the pair remain committed to the relationship and the Melbourne nurse, 31, moved to Perth during the pandemic last year to be with the Survivor star, 31.

Gilbert works as an adventure tour guide and the couple have previously spoken about their hopes to get married and have children in the future.

“We want to spend the rest of our lives together, we will get married eventually,” Gilbert previously said.

“There has been a lot of talk. Obviously we have talked about it but we are just happy spending the time together with Christmas coming up. We are extremely happy together. I have never wanted to say soulmate or anything like that but when I look at Irena, she is definitely my soulmate.”

SEASON 9: JIMMY NICHOLSON AND HOLLY KINGSTON

Airline pilot Jimmy Nicholson picked fan-favourite Holly Kingston during The Bachelor finale earlier this month and the pair recently celebrated a milestone in their relationship.

The couple are now living together after moving into Nicholson’s two-bedroom apartment in North Bondi, which he purchased for $1.4m

Marketing manager Kingston, 27, said while their new romance has already had its fair share of ups and downs, they are happy together.

“We may have had 18+ lovers quarrels and smell like a communal garbage disposal BUT we’re still smiling because we’ve moved in! (Kinda) (sic),” she announced on Instagram.

Nicholson, 31, previously said he’s excited to become a father one day.

“We have talked about marriage extensively. I am trying to bring her down on the kid front, she’s telling me she needs three years and I think I have got her down to two,” he said.
