US rapper Cardi B lashes out at photographers at Sydney Airport
US rapper Cardi B failed to sneak past photographers at Sydney airport — dressed more like someone’s gran — than the flamboyant superstar her fans know before lashing out at photographers.
She tried to touch down incognito but US rap star Cardi B quickly blew her cover on landing in Australia when the claws came out for local photographers.
She was seen walking through the airport dressed more like someone’s gran — complete with a checked blanket over her arm — than the flamboyant superstar her fans know, with only her shock of pink hair and oversized sunnies marking her out.
She then wrapped the blanket around her head to try and throw the paparazzi off her scent.
Photographers in Sydney eager to catch a glimpse of the star quickly cottoned on to the 26-year-old’s ruse and Cardi blasted one in particular.
In a 10-minute expletive-filled rant, the I Like It rapper alleged the snapper said: “You in my country now, it’s my rules now.”
“That s. t left a bad taster in my mouth. It screamed racist to me, super racists,” she said.
“I am not from here, so I don’t know what to do.
“That s. t got me so f. king mad … it made me think like, I just want to go home.”
Cardi said she had been excited to visit Australia.
“I always wanted to come to this country, this country is so beautiful,” she said.
“I have been anticipating this trip for so long. I booked this gig when I was pregnant and I have been so thirsty to come out here.”
The I Like It singer is in town to headline Sydney’s biggest New Year’s Day party, Field Day, held in The Domain on Monday.
Cardi — whose last album Invasion of Privacy sold more than two million copies — will headline Field Day in The Domain tomorrow.
Other performers at the festival will include 2018 Aria winner Amy Shark, Sydney’s own dance duo Rufus Du Sol and electro group Flight Facilities.
