TWILIGHT hunk Xavier Samuels has shot his first scenes on ABC telemovie Riot.

The 33-year-old has returned to Sydney from his home base of Los Angeles to begin shooting the production that is based on Australia’s 1970s gay rights movement.

Samuels plays Jim Walker, with the cast also including Jessica de Gouw, Kate Box and Damon Herriman, who plays Lance Gowland.

“Lance Gowland is a devoted activist, steadfast and dedicated to actively fighting for his beliefs while juggling family, work and relationships,” an ABC statement read.

“With the system against them and ever present adversity, Gowland and his fellow activists decide to come out fighting in their celebration of diversity.”

Filming will be based in and around Sydney for the next month with the telemovie to air next year.
