TV Week Gold Logies: Karl Stefanovic seems to have no hard feelings towards Channel 9

It seems Karl Stefanovic has no hard feelings towards Channel 9 after he was dumped from Today days after his wedding last year. He, along with other network stars, put on a smile as they spoke at breakfast events after the Logies.

Tom Gleeson's Logies take over

Confidential couldn’t help but notice Karl Stefanovic’s chipper attitude towards Nine after his ruthless dumping from Nine days after his Mexican wedding in December.

In fact, Stefanovic appeared to almost let Nine off the hook for the way he was treated.

Tom Gleeson’s Gold Logie win: ‘Bitter, arrogant, elitist and just plain nasty’

“It was good to be back (at the Logies),” he told the crowd in a question-and-answer session with Rebecca Maddern.

“It’s been about six months since I was on the telly, and I needed to have a rest. Towards the end of last year, I was cooked. It had taken its toll, a lot of the attention — all the unwarranted attention I thought, and you can’t control any of that, I’m not going to complain too much about that, but what it meant was that in a work capacity I don’t believe for a second I was at my best. I think I was struggling towards the end of last year.”

It was brave faces all round as Channel 9 and Seven rolled out their biggest stars post the night before that was the disaster of this year’s Logie Awards.

Channel 9 technically won half a gong with Deborah Mailman winning Most Popular Actress for her roles in Bite Club and ABC’s Mystery Road while Seven is claiming a full trophy thanks to producing Foxtel’s A Place To Call Home.

It was a pretty dismal haul considering Seven and Nine are neck and neck to take out the ratings year and have the biggest shows on television.

Public broadcaster ABC took home 10 Logies, including Kerry O’Brien’s induction into the Hall of Fame. Then came Channel 10 with a surprising six gongs.

Despite the overall feeling of defeat and a lot of questions being asked about what went wrong given their ratings successes, both Nine and Seven hosted breakfast events on Monday where talent were forced to slap on a smile to get through the morning’s commitments.
