Jeremy Lindsay Taylor is the new guy in Summer Bay … for a second time.

After a previous guest stint as a crooked cop, the veteran TV star has signed on as a series regular on Home And Away.

“With three kids and a mortgage, it is really nice to have a regular gig and know what I am doing all year for however long,” Lindsay Taylor told Confidential.

“It is great to be a part of this big family and this wonderful machine that just keeps going and getting better, ratings keep going up, this show is unbelievable.”

Lindsay Taylor joins the show as good guy police Sergeant David Langham.

His character has two daughters played by actors Sophea Pennington and Maddison Brown.

He will be on air from Wednesday.

The 51-year-old would be one of the most recognisable acting faces on Australian television with a career spanning three decades and spots on some of our biggest shows.

His credits range from Blue Heelers to McLeod’s Daughters, Sea Patrol, Romper Stomper, Love Child, City Homicide, Puberty Blues, Offspring, and Underbelly and he has appeared on the big screen in more than 10 films including The Dry.

“I feel blessed to have kept working and continuing to work in this industry of ours and telling Australian stories for 30 years now,” the father of two daughters and a son in real life said.

“It is a very tough industry. I just love the craft, I love storytelling, I think I am born to do it so I’ve just stuck at it and in the tough times you just work harder and something eventually comes and you’ve got to keep that faith. It is so rewarding when you are working, it kind of makes up for the times when you are not.”

Long-time Home and Away cast member Ada Nicodemou got her start on Heartbreak High back in the 1990s. Lindsay Taylor also got his start on that show, although the pair were not part of the cast at the same time.

Lindsay Taylor noted the fact Home and Away has been responsible for launching the careers of some of our biggest names in Hollywood, not least of whom is Chris Hemsworth.

“It is no surprise young actors go on to some big things because it is just so fast and you have got to know your stuff and you learn.

“I am learning still every day, it is great. You’ve got to learn to trust your instincts on this one because you don’t have much time, it is good to channel that, get in touch with your instincts and go with it.”
