Hollywood actor Matt Damon got his first taste of freedom after being released from private quarantine last week.
The Thor: Love and Thunder star looked elated during a sunny outing with his wife Luciana Barroso and their daughters, along with their good friend Elsa Pataky and her children in Byron Bay.
The Damon family are understood to have isolated inside a sprawling multimillion-dollar home at their own expense instead of a mandatory government-assigned hotel after arriving via private jet from the US earlier this month.
Damon, who will reside Down Under for a few months, is set to begin filming the latest instalment of Marvel Blockbuster Thor alongside his good friend and Pataky’s husband Chris Hemsworth in Sydney.
Damon and Hemsworth are longtime friends and are often seen holidaying together with their families in Byron Bay.
In 2017, Damon’s now 10-year-old Stella was stung by a jellyfish at Byron Bay’s famous beach The Pass and was treated by paramedics before making a quick recovery.
The Damons returned for another holiday the following year and Pataky and Barroso got matching tattoos – three vertical black dots on their pinky fingers – as a nod to their blossoming friendship.
Damon is expected to join Hemsworth in Sydney in coming days to begin filming, which will take place at Moore Park’s Fox Studios and Centennial Park.
Thor: Love and Thunder is expected to spend around $178 million, use the services of around 1,650 local Australian businesses and create up to 2,500 jobs in NSW.
“Australia definitely is the lucky country, and I can’t wait to show my family Australia’s down to earth people, breathtaking scenery and diverse culture,” he previously said.
Damon is the latest A-lister to jet to Australia, following the likes of his Thor co-stars Natalie Portman and Christian Bale who arrived last year.
Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen and his wife Isla Fisher along with Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman are among others who are now calling Australia home.
