THE Voice’s Ben Sekali is hopeful his performances on the reality show will inspire others to follow their dreams in music.
The 25-year-old was a youth worker before taking up music full time, based in Sydney’s greater west.
“I just really want to inspire and encourage our next generation,” Sekali told Confidential. “It can be hard to know what to do and how to make it in the music industry.”
Sekali, who is under the guidance of American pop star Joe Jonas on The Voice, will perform at The Daily Telegraph’s Project Sydney Gala at the Bankstown Sports Club on Thursday night.
Having spent much of his life living in Penrith, he believes there should be more focus on the arts in Sydney’s west.
The Daily Telegraph’s Project Sydney campaign advocates for the fastest growing region in the state, championing the best talent to emerge from greater Sydney.
“We need more support of the arts,” he said.
“We are all creative people. We need anything that has to do with creativity — be it art, music, theatre.”
