Production on reality singing show The Voice Australia has shut down due to a contestant testing positive to Covid.
Channel 7 would not provide details other than to confirm production halted a day earlier than planned due to the case.
Coaches Rita Ora, Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy and Keith Urban will now resume filming next month after the scheduled Christmas and New Year break.
They are all understood to have been tested for the virus and all have returned negative results.
“Filming of the new season of The Voice was due to wrap today for the year,” a Seven spokeswoman said. “Today’s filming was postponed. Production will resume in mid-January, as planned. All Covid safety protocols have been – and will continue to be – strictly followed, including daily rapid testing for all crew and talent, social distancing and limits on the number of people on set.”
The news comes as NSW recorded a new high of 3057 Covid cases. on Tuesday.
The Voice Australia has been in production for several weeks at Sydney’s Fox Studios in Moore Park.
The coaches have also been filming The Voice Generations short-form series over recent weeks. Both shows will air next year with Generations up first.
The Voice is a huge priority for Seven, which nabbed the format from rival Nine at the end of 2020. Ratings for the 2021 season sky rocketed thanks to a new look coaching panel and supercharged format.
