The Power Lunch has returned to Sydney... albeit, in a more condensed format.
The new trend for power players across Sydney’s social scene is the 90 minute power lunch.
With workers still not in the office full time, and workloads intensifying, the days of the long lunch are few and far between however many of Sydney’s best restaurants are now catering for a condensed version.
In the past, Sydney’s elite would be seen making deals at Machiavelli’s and Blue Angel. Now, they are also heading for venues across the city that cater for an “express lunch” but in a fine dining environment.
Alessandro Pavoni’s restaurant at Crown Sydney, a’Mare, is offering at $79pp power lunch but packed with favourites including a wide range of antipasto selection, then a choice between either the spaghetti cacio e pepe, grilled fish, steak of the day or an octopus trofie pasta and all served with salad.
“Our Pranzo al Volo lunch menu is the perfect way to get the a’Mare experience mid-week. Come in for an elevated power lunch,” said Pavoni.
While The Menzies’ Bar at Shell House in Wynyard constantly has lines out the front for it’s lunch time menu or it’s $10 martini and lobster rolls.
From power brokers to creatives, restaurateur Brett Robinson, who is CEO of The Point Group, said the location had “become a centre of gravity for the CBD.”
“The price point means people can afford to go a couple of times a week, with different lunch guests and have a quick steak and a glass of a wine,” he said. ––
Popular Potts Point Bistro Franca has brought back it’s Le Fixe menu, which offers a two course set menu (either entree and main, or main and dessert) for $79pp.
ESQ Bar and Dining in the Queen Victoria Building offers up an even quicker dining experience, offering up a premium 60 minute main dish, accompanied by a side and a house beverage for $39pp.
Hinchcliff House’s Lana, which is known for its set menu degustation, now offers an ala carte lunch time menu meaning diners can choose then own adventure.
