NEWS talkback station 2GB remains Sydney’s top radio station according to the latest survey results, which reveal where business heavyweights Kyle and Jackie O and Jonesy and Amanda finished up.

NEWS talkback station 2GB remains Sydney’s top radio station across AM and FM.

The Macquarie Media Ltd station is Sydney’s most listened to radio broadcaster overall with a share of 12.6 per cent of the whole market, well ahead of WSFM at 9.8 per cent, smoothfm at 8.7 per cent and KIIS at 8.6 per cent.

Breaking the figures down, Alan Jones has notched up his 206th consecutive survey win for the all important breakfast shift with a share of 15.3 per cent of the market, a rise of 0.4 percentage points on the last survey.

WSFM’s Brendan ‘Jonesy’ Jones and Amanda Keller and KIIS duo Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O hold an equal 10.3 per cent of the breakfast market, followed by ABC Sydney at 10 per cent and Triple M at seven per cent.

Across the board though, 2GB reigned supreme.

For mornings, Ray Hadley enjoyed an increase of 0.2 percentage points to a share of 15.9 per cent, marking his 107th consecutive win.

Chris Smith in afternoons registered a leading share of 11.3 per cent while Ben Fordham is number one in drive with 10.4 per cent and Steve Price is top for nights with a 19.1 per cent share.

In drive on FM, Nova’s Kate Ritchie, Tim Blackwell and Marty Sheargold reached 9.6 per cent for the 4-7pm timeslot but Hughesy and Kate on KIIS FM beat them, with a share of 9.8 per cent.

Overall, according to the official GFK figures of 4pm to 7pm for drive, Nova was down 1.5 percentage points to 9.7 per cent.

Confidential on Nova’s Sunday night show, from 6pm to 8pm, topped its timeslot nationally and in Sydney registered a leading share of 11.3 per cent.

There are eight rounds of radio survey results released each year with the seventh survey figures announced on November 14.
