Nobody loves a wedding more than Sydney Confidential.

Here are some of the most memorable and lavish ceremonies this year.

In a fairytale case of Hollywood meets royalty, Suits actor Meghan Markle married Prince Harry on May 19 at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, in a ceremony that was broadcast around the world and watched by millions of adoring fans.

The bride wore an elegant Givenchy dress by British designer Clare Waight Keller and was walked down the aisle by Prince Charles for the union, which was credited with ushering in a new progressive era for the Royals.

After years of rumours and gossip magazine headlines, A-list couple Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth tied the knot in a small ceremony in Tennessee on December 23.

While the wedding was already rumoured to have taken place in Byron Bay, Cyrus took to Instagram to confirm she had tied the knot with the Australian actor, whom she met on the set of their 2010 movie The Last Song.

“Ten years later,” she captioned an image of herself hugging her new husband.

The intimate ceremony looked to have been attended only by the couple’s immediate family and close friends, including the Hemsworth brothers, her mum, Tish Cyrus, and sisters Noah Cyrus and Brandi Cyrus.

The couple were married at the Ocean View Club in the Bahamas, in the same beachside Caribbean island location in which they’d become engaged.

She said the most special moment of the day was when “Greg and I said “I do”. (The) days leading up to the wedding were very hectic as there is so much going on but for that one moment when we were looking at each other’s eyes everything disappeared and the only thing that mattered was the love that Greg and I shared.”

Shaik’s wedding gown was made by Meghan’s Markle’s designer favourite Ralph and Russo.

“The whole process took around eight months to finalise,” Shaik says of her dress. “In the end we came up with the dress that I have always dreamt off.”

Despite the high profile guest list which included Smith’s teammates Aaron Finch, Usman Khawaja, Nathan Lyon, Mitch Marsh, Pat Cummins and Moises Henriques, the wedding — which took place at Berrima in the Southern Highlands — did not draw much attention.
