Two Sydney buskers from Campbelltown have had a “crazy experience of a lifetime” after their Saturday set was crashed by globally recognised rapper, singer and songwriter from Australia, The Kid Laroi.
Sydney upcoming rap sensation Dylan ‘Dylan Billion Dollars’ (15) and his younger brother Damian had their day and “whole life” made when global rap icon from South Sydney, The Kid Laroi showed up to their set at Pitt Street Mall on Saturday.
As the brothers from Western Sydney performed the Notorious B.I.G’s hit, ‘Big Poppa’, they were unaware one of their greatest idols was watching on, until Damian spotted the musician among the crowd of onlookers who began to cheer and shout.
Not only did the Kid Laroi, whose real name is Charlton Howard, grab the microphone and express his appreciation for the duo saying, “let me say, these two kids are up next, can we make some noise for them,” he also left them a hefty tip.
The younger rapper who has over 100,000 streams on Spotify, revealed to 2GB’s Ben Fordham on Monday morning that the Aussie talent left him a $1000 tip which he and his brother will be splitting.
“One of his homeboys pulled out a brick of one hundreds, and I thought he was counting them like one, two, three, but then after that he game and greeted me, one of the bodyguards said make sure no one takes the money because there’s a lot of money he (The Kid Laroi) put in”, the Campbelltown musician said.
Videos posted to social media from crowd members watching the performance in awe, show The Kid Laroi and friends waving their arms and clapping the teenagers as they sang and stopped foot traffic in the outdoor hub of Pitt Street Mall.
“I’m probably going to save up and I’m looking to invest in a better music set up to get my music production up,” said Dylan.
The Kid Laroi has returned home to Sydney to kick start his ‘End of the World’ global tour.
Performing on Thursday and Friday evening at Qudos Bank Arena, the 18 year old Aussie rap sensation featured local talent, upcoming rapper from Waterloo, Lilarts and Australian drill and rap group OneFour as supporting acts within the show.
The Kid Laroi was also spotted last week, shutting down a McDonalds in his home town of Waterloo, in celebration of his new collaboration with the chain.
