As we prepare for the arrival of another royal baby and celebrate the first birthday of Prince Louis, we take a trip down regal memory lane and look at the cutest Windsor babies of all time. Here’s how the littlies with the biggest titles charmed the world.
Prince Louis
Born April 23, 2018
Lovely Prince Louis turned one this week and to mark the occasion his mother Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, released a series of photographs she took of the charming prince. With neat blond hair and rosy cheeks, many fans thought him the double of big brother George, while others reckon he looks a lot like Grandpops Charles. Dressed in a cute blue jumper with a dog motif, he is full of giggles. While we haven’t seen much of him, he was last snapped in November laughing with Prince Charles and grabbing his grandad’s nose for his 70th birthday portraits.
Princess Charlotte
Born May 2, 2015
It quickly became apparent that Princess Charlotte was not a girl to be trifled with. With her trademark bow in her brown hair, she’s often pictured with a bemused expression on her face
looking just like her great-grandmother The Queen. She’s also known to be as naughty as Uncle Harry, often photographed sticking her tongue out. And she confidently told a photographer at baby brother Louis’ christening last July, “You’re not coming,” staring defiantly as she walked into the ceremony. Anyone would think she was a princess.
Prince George
Born July 22, 2013
When Gorgeous George was born almost six years ago he stole our hearts with his chubby cheeks, blond hair and rosebud lips. He also quickly became a style setter, dressed in the same type of traditional get-up his father Prince William sported in the 1980s. He wowed the crowds on his visit to Australia in 2014 aged eight months, but by far his best ensemble was the monogrammed dressing gown he wore to greet president Barack Obama and Michelle Obama at home in Kensington Palace in 2016.
Prince Harry
Born September 15, 1984
Mini Prince Harry was adorable, with his shock of red hair and cheeky smile. He was also naughty — he would often stick his tongue out to the cameras including at the Trooping The Colour in 1988. His mother Diana, Princess of Wales ticked him off but was usually snapped enveloping him in cuddles. In 2017 he said: “She would just engulf you and squeeze you as tight as possible. And being as short as I was then, there was no escape; you were there and you were there for as long as she wanted to hold you.”
Prince William
Born June 21, 1982
The first born is always special and precious Prince William charmed the world just as his son George would later do. He was a smiley baby with blond hair and rosy cheeks, very similar to George at the same age. He was always captured being held by his mother Diana, who dressed him in traditional gear including smocked tops, shorts and socks, which would later inspire Catherine to recreate some of his outfits exactly when dressing Diana’s grandsons.
Prince Charles
Born November 14, 1948
Prince Charles lived up to his name and was extremely bonny as a baby. With blond hair and adorable chubby cheeks, the candid shots of the young then Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip doting on their precious first child and heir are lovely. He was also pictured wearing a smock dress being cuddled by proud grandmother Queen Elizabeth, with King George a reserved distance away.
The Queen
Born April 21 1926
The young Princess Elizabeth bore an uncanny resemblance to her great-granddaughter Princess Charlotte. When a baby, she was often snapped with a solemn expression, which changed to a cheeky grin as she turned into a toddler. With her gorgeous blonde curls and frilly bonnets, little Lilibet, as her family dubbed her, looked like a china doll. She was not born in Buckingham Palace, but instead at 17 Bruton St, Mayfair, the home of her maternal grandparents, showing that even in the 1920s, royal mothers-to-be still turned to Mum for help.
