The Block 2016: Chris and Kim Elliott excited for finale but reveal the producers editing ‘hurt at times’

THE Block’s Kim and Chris Elliott are eagerly awaiting the show’s finale on Sunday night but have confessed it hasn’t been the easiest of roads for them on the reality show.

“The editing hurt at times,” Mrs Elliott, vice-principal of Glenvale Special School’s The Entrance North campus, said.

“But we have memories to last a lifetime.”

The Elliotts made headlines after Tuesday night’s penultimate show, where they angrily confronted the judges, smarting from some of the weekly critiques.

“It’s no surprise, we are not really interested in meeting the judges at this current time,” Mr Elliott, a police officer formerly with Brisbane Water Local Area Command and now based at Newcastle City, said on the show.

“We’re very hesitant in going up and acting like they haven’t affected us. We’ll let them know we’re not happy with some of the comments that have been made.”

Mr and Mrs Elliott flew down to Melbourne yesterday, with their young children Chloe and Cooper set to join them with their grandparents today. Their children have enjoyed being part of The Block experience.

“We get out as much as we can and any time someone says hi, Chloe asks if people want a photo as she’s been on TV,” Mrs Elliott said.

For the Elliotts, the experience has been everything they expected and more.

“We knew it would be hard work, we always said the sleep deprivation would be on our side — as we’ve had training with the kids — but it was a big mental game too,” Mrs Elliott said.

They have a modest wish list should they make a profit when their apartment, and the apartments of their four rival couples, go under the hammer.

“A pool and a caravan, they are our number one and number two priorities,” Mrs Elliott said.

“It’s no secret we’re super-competitive but if everyone walks away with a nice sum of money we’ll be over the moon.”
