Turns out Australians love affair with lamb is showing no signs of slowing down.

A Herb Crusted Lamb Rack and Pappardelle from Bankstown Sports Club has been voted the best club dish, in the large category, in the 2025 Your Local Club Perfect Plate Awards.

It was just one of 171 clubs across the state who put up dishes in the annual awards, which asks the public to vote for the best club dishes across the state.

Over 98,300 Perfect Plate dishes were purchased by hungry diners with the winners were announced at a special ceremony at Western Sydney Convention Centre in Penrith on Tuesday night.

The competition’s ambassadors chefs Matt Moran and Courtney Roulston as well as NRL legend Nathan Hindmarsh were in attendance at the awards. They visited more than 60 participating clubs to meet the competing chefs and taste their creations.

Moran, one of the countries most celebrated chefs who runs Chiswick and Aria, believes the dishes he tasted at The Epping Club, which took out the top spot in the Northern Metropolitan region, were among the best in the world.

“They dished up some of the best Chinese food I’ve eaten not just in Sydney, but in the world,” said Moran, who started his career at Parramatta RSL.

At the event, the most popular pizza in NSW was awarded to The Fraternity Club in Illawarra. The venue also took home another gong, with their Ravioli Di Pesce winning the best dish in the medium club category.

The Polish Club in Sydney’s inner west’s Bangalow Pork Schnitzel earned them the honour of the best dish in the small club category.

ClubsNSW CEO Rebecca Riant said Perfect Plate, now in its fifth year, was an opportunity to shine the spotlight on the quality and diversity of club dining, and the dedicated chefs who work in the industry. “From a Red Miso Glazed Snapper to a Beef and Guinness Pot Pie, this year’s winners are as varied as they are innovative, and they show that there really is something for everyone at your local club!” said Ms Riant.
