Introducing: Matty J, Australia's newest bachelor

BY THE time Matty Johnson wraps up this season’s The Bachelor Australia series, he’ll be laughing all the way to the bank.

The hunky 29-year-old Marketing Director, who was dumped by The Bachelorette Georgia Love on national television last year, is set to earn a rumoured $200,000 in his second chance at love.

But a Network Ten Spokesperson has denied Matty’s lucrative pay packet.

“The contractual arrangements between Matty Johnson and the producers of The Bachelor Australia, Warner Bros, are confidential. But the recent claims about the contract are completely inaccurate,” she said in a statement.

Matty confimed he would be the new Bachelor, which is expected to take six months to shoot.

“I can finally announce that yes, I will be the next Bachelor,” he wrote on Instagram last week.

“I never could have imagined I’d be given this opportunity.

“I’m beyond excited to start this incredible adventure and to find the special girl I’ve been waiting for.”

The news comes after it was reported that former Bachelor star Richie Strahan only took home $10,000, despite the show raking in $30 million in promotional deals.

If that seems like a bad day in the office, the women contestants are said to earn just $90 per day to appear on the program.

Maybe they are there just for love after all.
