Teresa Palmer beings filming Michelle Payne movie, Ride Like A Girl in Melbourne
TERESA Palmerhas started filming the Michelle Paynemovie, Ride Like A Girl. The AACTA-nominated star posted a photo to Instagram from day one of the movie, which is the directorial debut of Oscar-nominated actor Rachel Griffiths.

TERESA Palmerhas started filming the Michelle Paynemovie, Ride Like A Girl.
The AACTA-nominated star posted a photo to Instagram from day one of the movie, which is the directorial debut of Oscar-nominated actor Rachel Griffiths.
Palmer plays Payne in the film, which tells how the jockey became the first woman to win the Melbourne Cup, on Pirate Of Penzance in 2015.
“It’s begun! Day 1 of training to play @michellejpayne_ in #RideLikeAGirl,” Palmer posted.
The mother of two has moved her family from Adelaide to Melbourne to shoot the film, which also stars Sam Neill as Payne’s father Paddy.
Payne’s brother Steviewill play himself.
Announcing her role last year, Palmer wrote on Instagram: “Michelle was always warned she could never be a world-class jockey. She was not tough enough. She was not a man.”

While Palmer is 15cm taller than Payne, she does have experience with horses. Until recently, she was in Wales to film the TV series A Discovery of Witches, which also required her to ride.
Ride Like A Girl is written by Andrew Knight and Elise McCredie. It is expected to debut next January.
