Tahlia Giumelli and her fiance South Sydney prop Tom Burgess will no longer show their children on social media, as a growing number of Australian celebrities shy away from parading their kids online.

The model, 27, announced the “big change” in a lengthy Instagram post, telling her followers that she and Burgess made the joint decision to protect the privacy of their young daughters eight-month-old daughter Elodie and Sophie, who turns two next month.

“Every few months Tom and I sit down together (usually over dinner just the two of us) and discuss our next few steps we want to take as a family,” she wrote.

“It’s a way to ensure we are both on the same team and support each other’s individual goals. One thing Tom and I discussed recently is that going forward we have made the decision to avoid sharing our children’s faces on social media.

“I know this is a big change and that doesn’t mean we won’t be showing what we do as a family but as our babies grow and turn into little girls we want to try and protect them as much as possible. They didn’t ask for any of this and at the end of the day I have to trust my mum instincts and know I’m making the best decision for them right now.”

It comes as a growing number of stars including Jesinta Franklin and model Lara Worthington follow suit.

Others who have gone the privacy route include Natalie Imbruglia, Miranda Kerr and Dannii Minogue.

Franklin, who shares two children with her Sydney Swans star husband, Lance “Buddy”, recently spoke to Marie Claire magazine about their decision to protect their kids.

“It is a bit about privacy but for us it is not about hiding them,” she said.

“I think every parent is just so proud of their children and wants to show them off at any chance that they can get.

“We share photos with our family and friends all of the time. It is just about being respectful to their privacy and if they get to 13 or 14 and don’t care if we show their faces, great.”
