Sydney “It” girl Rey Vakili will wed her fiance Johnny Ingham in coming days with friends flying in from all over the world for the festivities.
However Saturday Confidential hears the former assistant to Anna Wintour has ruffled a few feathers by not including close friends in her hens celebrations, despite many of them travelling from Sydney to Italy for the nuptials.
Instead, the 32-year-old managing director of LTK AU chose to invite her Ivy League gal pals to her lavish hens, leaving some wedding guests out of sorts.
Among those in attendance were Isha Ambani, who went to Stanford University with Vakili. Ambani is the daughter of billionaire Makesh Ambini, the richest man in India.
Also celebrating Vakili’s final days as a single woman was Vakili’s sister Hoda Waterhouse, the wife of bookmaker Tom Waterhouse.
The only Sydney-based friends who got a look in were Luxe Listings star Remi Lindsay, sister-in-law Tamie Ingham and sister-in-law to be Katie Ingham.
Vakili and her pals sunbathed around a stunning St Tropez home and dined at one of France’s most prestigious eateries, La Petite Place.
Vakili is due to tie the knot with Ingham at the San Domenico Palace in Taormina, the hotel featured in the hit series White Lotus.
Her seemingly laid-back affair was a stark comparison to swimwear model Tash Oakley’s glitzy and glamorous hens party, which saw her and her scantily clad girlfriends make their way around London in a black stretch limousine.
Oakley is due to tie the knot in Capri on the same day as Vakili.
She will wed businessman and liquor heir Theo Chambers.
Saturday confidential hears there might be a bit of competition between the two socialites – who also got engaged around the same time – when it comes to their no doubt grandiose nuptials.
Branded “frenemies” by some, the pair are close observers of each other, in much the same way Terry Biviano and Jodi Gordon are mutual admirers who are sometimes accused of copycat behaviour.
Oakley and Vakili join a bevy of Australia’s elite who have chosen to jet to Europe for a destination wedding. Chicken heiress Tamie Ingham just tied the knot with chef Guillaume Brahimi in Paris.
Melbourne socialite Sarah Lew is relaxing at Lake Como ahead of her wedding in Europe next week.
