DEJANA Ninkovic would be lying if she said she’s not nervous for today.
Her husband, Sydney FC star Milos, is playing in the A-League Grand Final and, such has been Sydney’s dominance this season, beating Melbourne Victory to claim the championship would be no less than they deserve.
“It’s been a while since I felt like this,” she said.
“It’s big pressure when you play for a big club.
“They’re such a good team and they deserve to win this title — the whole team and all the staff. “Of course I’m nervous, but I believe in the team, I believe in my husband.
“I’m nervous, but also very happy.”
Milos has been the best player in the A-League by some distance this season and Dejana says she always knew he was capable of taking his game to this level.
The couple, along with their two daughters, left Serbia for Sydney when Milos signed for the club nearly two years ago and have enjoyed every minute of their time here.
“It’s been great for the kids, for the family, for me, for Milos as you can see. It’s a really nice city with a lot of opportunities, especially for the kids,” Dejana said.
“We’ve been together for a long time and he has had some ups and downs, like in every job. “This season just helped him show what a good player he is. His quality is at a level that I knew he was capable to play. He just needed time to get used to his new teammates, new fields, new type of league — every league is completely different, but this season is his season.”
Dejana will be at the match today, but their young daughters will be tuning into the game from Serbia.
“I came back a few days ago to support (Milos), she said.
“They’ve organised to watch the game with their grandparents and some friends.”
