Revolutionary Sydney chef Josh Niland’s Paddington restaurant Saint Peter has been honoured in the prestigious World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025 extended list.

Saint Peter, which Josh runs with wife Julie, was named at 66th place. That’s almost 30 spots in front of its position of 98th last year.

The restaurant, which used to be on Oxford Street and is now housed inside Paddington’s Grand National Hotel, has always been a foodie and celebrities favourite destination.

The likes of Margot Robbie and Nigella Lawson have sung the praises of the venue and Niland’s “nose to tail” approach to seafood.

Niland took to instagram to celebrate the achievement, saying “[Julie] and I couldn’t be more grateful & proud of the superhuman efforts of the entire team.”

The full list of restaurants will be announced at a ceremony in Turin, Italy on the 19th June but as yet, no other Australian restaurants have made the list.

However, the owner of Karkalla On Country, proud Bundjalung woman Mindy Woods, has been honoured with the 2025 Champions of Change award for her work in preserving Aboriginal culture.

While across the ditch, Amisfield Restaurant in Central Otago became the first New Zealand restaurant to make the top 100, coming in at 99th place.
