Sunrise star Sam Mac reveals surprise baby news

Sunrise weather presenter Sam Mac has shocked friends, family and fans with some surprise personal news. Here it is.

A ‘mini-mac’ is on the way for Sunrise star Sam ‘Sam Mac’ McMillan.

The popular weather presenter has announced he will become a father for the first time.

“Wowsers! Mini Mac coming soon,” he wrote on Instagram, revealing the bub is due in September.

Ever the funnyman, instead of showing a baby scan, Mac put an image of his own face on a phone held over the stomach of partner Rebecca James with the hashtag #DaddyMac.

“Bec just can’t wipe the smile off her face,” he added.

The couple also shared footage of themselves telling their family the news, including Rebecca’s brother, professional snowboarder Scotty James. TV vet Chris Brown also featured in the announcement, sharing his reaction to the news with a shocked face.

“The split second we showed @drchrisbrown the scan on FaceTime,” Mac wrote. “Clearly my friends have complete faith & confidence in my ability to be a dad.” The pair began dating in 2020 after being introduced by friends and spent the first part of their relationship long distance through successive Covid lockdowns with James based in Melbourne.

After moving to Sydney, James and former Gold Logie nominee McMillan announced they had bought a home together in October.

Celebrity friends were quick to congratulate the pair, including Sunrise host David Koch..

The Morning Show host Kylie Gillies wrote: “How wonderful. Seems like that fancy footwork of yours isn’t JUST limited to the dance floor. congrats.”

Comedian Tanya Hennessy added: “OMG best news ever!!! Congrats team !!!! Ahhh!! Baby Mac is coming!!”
