MEGAN Gale says she’d quit modelling if a client ever told her she needed plastic surgery to land a job.

At the age of 41, the celebrated model, mum and business woman has vowed to age gracefully.

“If it ever came to the point where someone was pressuring me to change myself in order to get work, especially plastic surgery, I would stop,” Gale said ahead of next week’s series launch of Australia’s Next Top Model.

“I wouldn’t do this anymore because it would mean that what I’ve got to say and to contribute from a professional angle is worthless and all it comes down to is my skin and how smooth my wrinkles are. It would make me feel hideous, like I’ve got nothing to contribute. Luckily that hasn’t ever happened to me. You make a choice as to whether you succumb to that pressure.”

Gale has long been an advocate of staying natural, speaking openly of her views on plastic surgery.

She has vowed not to go under the knife and recently revealed her AFL star partner Shaun Hampson would “kill her” if she did.

“It is not just my face, Shaun is like, no anything, boobs or anything,” she said. “I love that. I love that he is supportive of accepting me and loving me the way I am.”

Gale joins Jen Hawkins and Alex Perry as the 10th season of Foxtel’s Australia’s Next Top Model premieres on Fox8 on Tuesday at 7.30pm.

The first episode will feature a scene where she breaks down to tears after hearing one of the contestants stories.

“It just got me,” she said. “I just felt like I was looking at my 19-year-old self and I lost it. It was a real moment for me and made me see the girls on the flip side.”

Gale says it took her “a good five years” to be noticed when she started out as a model in the 90s and it was only after moving to Italy that her career took off.

“No one really said to me ‘you are fat and you need to lose weight’ but at the same time there was a bit of, ‘if you lost weight, you would get more work’.

“It was kind of put to me like that and I am so glad I didn’t change myself to conform because when my career did take off, my body was still the same and I hadn’t altered anything. I think it is a really good message to girls to not always do everything you are being told and to believe in who you are.”

She continued: “When I started, it was early to mid 90s, it was that whole heroine chic thing. Kate Moss was the model of the moment at that time. It was such a different look to me. I kind of missed that time when it was okay to be a bit more statuesque and Amazonian and curvy. I just think my look wasn’t right and wasn’t resonating and it was frustrating.”
