SHE may be one of the biggest stars in the world but, roaming the streets of Bondi, Kelly Rowland feels like an average mum.
Sitting down with Confidential, Rowland revealed her love of Sydney, naming the iconic beachside suburb of Bondi her sanctuary when in Australia.
The former Destiny’s Child member sets up home in Bondi with her son Titan during filming for The Voice.
“I really love it here. People are really respectful, particularly when I am out with my son,” Rowland said.
“One time another mother was talking to my son and then she looked up to me and realised who I was and she quickly said ‘I am such a fan’, then we just got back to talking like mums.
“I have found my little places to eat. I love Mr Wong’s and the ice cream place Messina. The food is very good here.”
The American pop star and mother-of-one is back Down Under as a judge on Channel 9’s reality juggernaut The Voice.
She is joined by Boy George, Delta Goodrem and Joe Jonas in the big red chairs for the new season of the show which will kick off next Monday.
Rowland said fans should expect some fireworks between the judges in the crucial blind auditions.
“I do not back down, why should I?” she said.
As a mentor to the ambitious musos, Rowland said she will impress on them the importance of following your gut as an artist.
“Listen to your intuition. Trust yourself,” she said.
“There were points where I didn’t listen to myself. Some things I would have done differently.
“That is one thing that I do regret. But I wonder how would it affect where I am now.”
