Celebrity agent Titus Day was completely blindsided when his “great mate” Sean Anderson took to social media this week to announce he had signed Day’s long-time client Sophie Monk this week.
Anderson’s 22 Management Instagram page shared a photograph of Monk alongside the caption “We’re thrilled to announce the very talented @sophiemonk has signed exclusively with 22! Welcome to the family,” on Friday night, with Day telling Sunday Confidential he had no idea Anderson had signed the singer to his agency.
It is understood Monk went completely cold on Day in recent weeks, with the agent not having heard a word from her, despite having managed her on and off for over a decade.
Day is believed to have received a letter from her lawyer out of the blue ending their agreement.
Asked about Monk jumping ship yesterday, a gutted Day told Sunday Confidential: “To say I am shocked and disappointed is an understatement. Sean and I were good friends for 20 years until he did this to me.”
Anderson is believed to have been contacted by Monk in mid-January asking for representation, and yesterday he said, “I met with Sophie for the first time last week and she said she was looking for a new manager after finishing up with Titus in December. I am really happy she has signed with me at 22.”
Day and Anderson are considered to be two of Australia’s top agents, with Day having represented big names including singer Guy Sebastian, television host Grant Denyer, model Lara Worthington and swimmer Stephanie Rice in recent years.
He currently looks after UFC champions Robert Whittaker and Alex Volkanovski.
Anderson represents model Jennifer Hawkins, actor Jodi Anasta, TV personality Georgia Love and blogger Pia Muehlenbeck.
It’s set to be a busy year for Day, who is preparing to battle it out in court against Sebastian, with the pair both issuing claims and counterclaims over commissions.
