JOH Bailey has found himself at the centre of an embarrassing incident at the wedding of two of his now former employees in Bali.
Confidential has learnt the socialite, along with his partner and another young male companion, were asked to leave the intimate 40-something guest wedding of hairdressers Tom Coleand Mariah Rota at seaside Atas Ombak Villa last weekend.
Sources say the ageing trout-pouting hairdresser arrived 90 minutes late to the nuptials in an excessively boisterous mood and proceeded to light a cigarette as the bride made her way down the aisle.
Sitting down to dinner later, Bailey and his two pals sat themselves at the kids’ end of the table, where one of his friends was seen spitting out a mouthful of food. But it was the speeches that caused the main fracas.
Cole thanked colleague Reece Walker ahead of Bailey, which upset the Sydney party boy.
Bailey was spotted pulling the bride aside and giving her a serve, which resulted in her breaking down to tears.
The groom and his mother subsequently stepped in and asked Bailey and his posse to leave the premises. He then proceeded to sack Cole from his job as star hairdresser at his Bondi Junction salon.
The next day, clearly feeling some remorse, Rota is understood to have had more than 100 missed calls from Bailey, as well as a text message apologising for his actions and expressing his shame while offering the pair their jobs back.
Confidential understands the newlyweds are still overseas on their honeymoon and that they don’t intend to accept the offer.
When contacted yesterday, Bailey said: “That’s not what happened at all.”
Asked if he wanted to comment further, he added: “Only that I had a really good time.”
