FOR single mum Alex Nation, the decision to go on The Bachelor was a big one.
“There was a lot more at stake for me. I not only have to think about finding the right person for myself, but I also have to find the right person for my son,” the 24-year-old told The Daily Telegraph.
Clearly her decision to go on the show paid off. The 24-year-old is an early frontrunner after Bachelor Richie Strahan gave her the competition’s only white rose, meaning she can sequester the 30-year-old away from the other 21 girls whenever she wants.
Explaining the show to her son, five-year-old Elijah, was also challenging.
“I explained it in the best way you can to a five-year-old. I said that Mummy’s going for a little while and I could maybe meet someone really special and cool,” she said.
Although Alex and Elijah’s father split up after she became a mum at 19, they are still friends.
Alex, who introduced herself to prospective new boyfriend Richie by reading him a poem, said: “When you put yourself in there like that you’re so vulnerable. I guess I was really very nervous about it but I really wanted to put my whole self in there and
let him in totally.”
