MOTORING nut Shane Jacobson has revealed he’s been in contact with controversial Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson following his sacking from the BBC.
The actor spoke to 104.1 2Day FM’s Dan & Maz this morning and told the duo he’d been texting Clarkson, who was dropped from the network for punching a member of staff in the face.
“We spoke via text, I am a modern man,” Jacobson said.
“We are mates, I have been working with Jeremy on and off now for seven years.
“I did Top Gear TV for two years, then we’ve been doing all the live festival shows around the country for years. I am in communication with him but just so you know, I know all the cool people.”
The funnyman also confirmed reports the Top Gear Festival wouldn’t go ahead on April 18 and 19 at Sydney Motorsport Park as planned and revealed details behind the show now dubbed — Clarkson, Hammond and May LIVE, which will have no BBC Top Gear branding or content.
“If you had asked me that question a few days ago, I would have said Top Gear Festival is going ahead as planned, but that is not what’s happening now,” he said.
“So Top Gear Festival as it was to be put on in Sydney isn’t going to go ahead ... The Rolling Stones isn’t quite The Rolling Stones without Mick Jagger and obviously having the Top Gear Festival without Jeremy Clarkson was going to be a problem without a doubt.
“Now there is going to be a thing which won’t be Top Gear Live, what it will be is Clarkson, Hammond and May live and there will be shows in Melbourne and Sydney.”
