SIBLINGS

Amy Ong, 24, beautician: “In my spare time I like to be out in nature, spend time with my family and friends, do pottery, go out for drinks and a boogie, play with my baby kitties and doing random things like Kmart or Bunnings runs.”

Khanh Ong, 30, restaurateur and former MasterChef contestant: “I want to experience the entire game. I want to do it all. I want to orchestrate blindsides, I want to find Idols, I want to use advantages and make dumb decisions.”

SIBLINGS

Andy Meldrum, 49, advertising consultant: “My best chance is probably if they replace all of the physical endurance challenges with puzzles. That might be a longshot though.

Kate Tatham, 46, stay-at-home mum: “I think my game plan is to not have a game plan. Being flexible and adaptable in my daily thought process while playing Survivor will hopefully get me through the game.”

PARTNERS

Ben Watson, 33, tradie/photographer: “I have the urge, desire, strength and ability to push whoever I need to out of my way to get me to the end.”

Shayelle Lajoie, 31, bio medical student: “I am physically strong, socially adaptable and certainly not one to back away from a challenge.”

IN-LAWS

Chrissy Zaremba, 42, teacher: “My Survivor game plan is to be known but not feared in any way. To sit in the middle pack and observe. To potter away cleaning and socialising but to be listening in on all around me, I need to be the mother hen. Mothers can be trusted, right?”

Michael ‘Croc’ Crocker, 41, ex-NRL player: “My biggest fear is fear of failure – not living up to my own expectations physically and strategically.”

FATHER/DAUGHTER

David Goodchild, 51, project manager: “No one will expect the ruthlessness. I’m a good guy but I hate disloyalty and losing.”

Briana Goodchild, 26, digital producer: “The last thing I want to be is boring – simply not my flavour. I show up to play.”

BROTHERS

Jesse Hansen, 22, triathlete: “I intend to make big moves but probably not early on. I am coming to play and not be a number.”

Jordie Hansen, 25, landscaper: “I’ve learnt to make fire with flint as well as some physical training.”

COUSINS

Jordan Schmidt, 29, personal trainer: “I’m most looking forward to competing. I have played rugby and sport my whole life so the thought of playing a game and competing drives me.”

Josh Millgate, 31, pilot: “It’s a shared experience and you’ve got to be lucky to get on the show, let alone get on the show with your cousin. It’s all fun for us, we won’t take anything too seriously.”

SISTERS

KJ Austin, 37, ex flight attendant: “I think we’ll play our own game as we’re two very different people. I’ll try to play the game in line with my values and who I am here on the outside.”

Sophie Cachia, company director: “I will try my best to fly under the radar initially, but my personality and persona is rarely one that can do that, even when I try. It will be a strategy of mine, but a difficult task for me.”

HUSBAND and WIFE

Mark Wales, 42, ex SAS Commander: “I am a soft heart. I do feel everything and have a lot of empathy and that made it extremely hard for me as a peacekeeper and a combat soldier.”

Sam Gash, 37, endurance athlete: “My husband and I met on Australian Survivor and made the cardinal sin of getting swept up in our connection at the detriment of playing the game. Our whole tribe turned against us and we were swiftly voted out.

IDENTICAL TWINS

Mel Chiang, 33, chiropractor: “I’m quite calculative, and an extreme over-thinker. If needed, I can cause chaos. I also get very hangry so we shall see what happens when the game starts.”

Michelle Chiang, 33, speech pathologist: “My biggest fear is getting eliminated before my sister. My dream is to beat her at her favourite game, and I would feel like I had not succeeded in my quest if I didn’t get to do that.”

Sandra Diaz, 47, Queen of Survivor: “My strength on Australian Survivor will be my social game. I can pretty much find something in common with everyone.

“I can be a good friend to those that are interested in getting to know me.”

Nina Twine, 24, accounts clerk: “I have watched multiple seasons of Australian Survivor specifically, and began doing mental exercises, like meditation, to try and learn how I can keep myself calm and alert out there.”

SAM FROST’S BROTHER ALEX JOINS CAST

Actor Sam Frost shared some wise words with her brother as he prepared to make his debut on reality television.

Alex Frost is one of six children and the younger brother of the former Home And Away star who got her start as a contestant on the Bachelor franchise.

“She actually wrote me a really nice letter, it was like two pages long,” the 26-year-old told The Daily Telegraph. “It was basically be yourself, you don’t need to pretend to be anyone, you are great the way you are. So just stay true to yourself essentially. It was actually a really beautiful letter and I shed a few tears. She is such an awesome sister. I am pretty lucky.”

The 2022 season is titled Survivor Australia: Blood v Water and sees contestants competing against people they know either as family or friends.

Controversially, Frost will appear alongside his sisters ex-boyfriend, Melbourne muso and personal trainer Jay Bruno.

The series was shot at the end of last year when Bruno was still dating Frost’s sister. The pair will be billed as ‘in-laws’.

“He was dating my sister and needed someone to go along with him and we get along pretty well, sometimes Sam was jealous of how well we got along,” he said. “We were kind of like best friends so we thought it would be easy having this telepathic sense and we would be able to win the game easy. We are kind of mischievous together as well.”

Frost works in a warehouse for a supermarket chain but has studied radio. He has long been a fan of the Survivor format.

“It is the ultimate game and I took it,” said Frost. “Maybe following in my sisters footsteps a little bit. I love everything about it, the strategy, the social mixed in with the physical side. I just wanted to be a part of the whirlwind.”

Despite knowing the format well, Frost said he was “in for a shock” when filming began in Queensland.

“I was pretty lazy with the preparation to be honest,” he said. “Two weeks before hand I thought I better do something so I spoke to Jay and he wrote me up a bit of a fitness plan and I did about two weeks of 20 minute exercises and just prayed and hoped for the best.”

As for his personal life, Frost laughed when asked if he’d consider himself appearing on The Bachelor.

“I am seeing someone at the moment,” he said. “My love life is good so no Bachelor for me.”
