Sam Burgess hooks up with ‘dating guru’ Jana Hocking the night after court

After a long day in court where explosive texts were revealed between him and his ex-wife and father-in-law, NRL star Sam Burgess went out for drinks — and was later spotted snogging a self-styled ‘dating guru’.

Fresh from a day spent fighting charges relating to an argument with his former father-in-law Mitchell Hooke, former Souths captain Sam Burgess hit the town on Friday night.

He had spent the day at Moss Vale Court as explosive text messages revealing the ugly split between he and ex-wife Phoebe Hooke were aired.

Still dressed in the crisp business attire he was photographed wearing as he entered court earlier that day, Burgess — flanked by his powerhouse lawyer Bryan Wrench — began the night at trendy Potts Point bar and restaurant Chester White.

Plonking down for a meal at about 7.30pm, the footy star and his lawyer bud downed cured meats and white wine before moving to the bar where they ordered up several rounds of tequila shots.

The burly Brit attracted the attention of some of the women in the bar and was soon surrounded by a gaggle of wide-eyed admirers.

Among them was self-styled “dating guru” and Triple M producer Jana Hocking.

Along with her day job in radio, Hocking, 36, has made something of a side-career in media penning Carrie Bradshaw-esque editorials about the trials and tribulations of bed-and-bar hopping as a single girl in the big smoke.

Her most recent, published in news.com.au last week, detailed her horror at being told by a numerologist recently that she wouldn’t meet the man of her dreams until the grand
old age of 45.

The blonde and Burgess were seen indulging in a very public make-out sesh as fellow diners watched on agog.

“They didn’t seem to care that everyone was basically staring at them,” said a fellow patron who was among those watching in bemusement.

“They started out just chatting but by the time they left they were all over each other. And then they just got up and left together.”

Contacted on Saturday about the alleged new romance, the normally outspoken Hocking, who dated NRL bad boy Todd Carney several years back, declined to comment.

Nor did Burgess who will be back in court on February 5 where he and Wrench will continue his fight to clear his name against the explosive allegations made by Hooke and her father.
