Hollywood actor Russell Crowe once ended up at a pub swingers night with iconic musician Sting during a night out in Ireland, he has revealed.
Crowe, 57, made the eyebrow-raising revelation on Twitter last week, telling his 2.7 million followers that he inadvertently attended a Dublin hotel’s partner-swapping event after watching the English rocker’s band The Police perform live in the Irish capital back in 2007.
“The one (and) only time I ever went to Croke Park was to see The Police in concert,” Crowe wrote.
“Flew in from London. Sat on a road case on the side of stage. Brilliant. Post gig, met up with Sting, for 1 pint, random pub. Unbeknownst to any of us it was Swingers night.”
Crowe said he didn’t stay long due to time constraints and the fact he was married to his ex-wife Danielle Spencer at the time.
“Jet by the hour. 1 pint was all the schedule allowed,” he tweeted.
“I was also married. And... my wife was with me... and the children expected us home ... so... Poetry of another kind. At the time. People ask me why I love Dublin, I ask, how much time do I have?”
Crowe and Spencer split in 2012 after nine years of marriage.
He is now dating real estate agent Britney Theriot.
The Academy award-winner went on to reveal his nickname for Sting, whose full name is Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner.
“I call him Gordy the Geordie or Stingleberry. I come from a Nickname culture. It’s a hard habit to break,” he shared.
Crowe recently wrapped filming on the Marvel blockbuster Thor: Love and Thunder in Sydney.
He plays Greek God Zeus alongside Chris Hemsworth and Matt Damon.
The actor is now in talks to star alongside Zac Efron next in Peter Farrelly’s The Greatest Beer Run Ever.
