Roxy’s stunning Sydney claim: ‘I am doing what the 21-year-old me should have done’

Roxy Jacenko is giving someone the chance to win their dream home. Here, she tells the Telegraph why.

Australia remains a nice place to visit but Roxy Jacenko no longer wants to live here.

The high-profile celebrity publicist has lived in Singapore for just six months and is already certain she will never call Sydney home full time again.

“I would never move back, there is no doubt about it,” Jacenko told The Daily Telegraph.

“While Singapore is not my ideal location to live, it is so central and it has broadened my horizons in six months already. I was in a bubble when I lived in Australia and all of a sudden I have been to places I would never have thought about before.”

Jacenko, 43, sold her Sweaty Betty PR business last year, as well as her Vaucluse mansion to move overseas with husband Oliver Curtis and their two kids, Pixie and Hunter.

The polarising identity said she should have made the move years ago.

“For so many years, from the age of 24 when I started my business, I was that girl who did not leave my desk,” she explained. “I was in this bubble of not doing anything, not going anywhere, now I am learning to live my life. I still work, don’t get me wrong, but the opportunity to see stuff, to live, I am doing what the 21-year-old me should have done.”

Outside of her PR work, Jacenko is known for appearing as a contestant on the first season of SAS Australia, as well as a stint on Celebrity Apprentice Australia.

Many would associate her name with Sydney’s socialite set and for sharing her lavish life and love of fine things on social media.

Living in Singapore has been refreshing, she said.

“I have to tell you, coming back here and having dinner at Mr Wong's the other night, what is with the staring?” she questioned.

“Yes, I am that girl but do you need to choke on your dim sum and stare at me like I’ve got three heads. I don’t miss that. I like the anonymity of going to the local grocery shop and no one staring at my like I’ve got a pimple the size of Mt Vesuvius on my nose.

“There are so many preconceived ideas of who I am. I have not missed that.”

With Friday being International Women’s Day, Jacenko will give someone a chance to win a dream home in Cronulla worth $10 million by signing up to her Brand Bootcamp. There’s also a HERMES Birkin 30 to win, and a Rolex watch.

“For me it is about giving someone an opportunity they have only ever dreamt of,” she said. “And it is a life that I have been lucky enough to live.”
