IT’S a $5300 gold diamond ring in the shape of a bent nail.
As Sydney celebrity Roxy Jacenko celebrated her 36th birthday today, some asked if it might be a gift before her husband, convicted inside trader Oliver Curtis, is sentenced next week.
Curtis’ legal troubles appeared a world away today as he and his PR queen wife left their luxury Bondi apartment in a $180,000-plus Bentley.
Exactly one week before Curtis learns his fate for his part in scamming $1.4 million over a period of 12 months with his former best friend John Hartman, Jacenko posted an image of her new ring, a Cartier ‘Juste Un Clou’ on social media acknowledging her husband of four years with a tag and a love heart emoji.
The director of PR agency Sweaty Betty would not reply when The Daily Telegraph asked if it was a gift from her Curtis.
The guilty verdict last week now allows authorities to seize Curtis’s assets, including his share of the profits he and his wife made on the sale of their Wool-lahra home, bought in 2011 for $6.6 million and sold in 2014 for $8.15 million — making a $1.55 million profit.
The Juste Un Clou, which translates in French as “just a nail”, is a celebrity must-have, worn by Lana Del Rey, Miranda Kerr, Kendall Jenner, Kristen Stewart and Karlie Kloss. In the post, Jacenko’s hand was also decked in Nader jewellers diamonds, along with two other Cartier bangles — one worth $9500 and another of $8000.
Jacenko and Curtis have put on a united front since last week’s guilty verdict that could see him imprisoned for up to five years and/or fined $220,000.
Jacenko’s birthday celebrations didn’t stop with diamond rings. The PR maverick was given numerous bunches of elaborate flowers, a three-tiered gold-embossed cake and a photo collage put together by her employees showcasing her years of “fashion moments”.
“Ahhh a look back some of my not so fabulous beauty and fashion moments — everything from cutouts to tandoori style spray tans,” she wrote.
“Thank you google for kindly keeping these for me and the cheeky buggers in my office for making them into wallpaper!!!!!”
Jacenko and Curtis have kept a low profile in their luxury apartment, in a block that includes neighbours such as Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness.
Curtis returns to court on June 17 for submissions on sentence.
