The unidentified dead animal fur well and truly hits the fan in the latest episode of Real Housewives of Sydney.
Victoria Montano, luxury animal fur retailer, and Dr Kate Adams, veterinarian, are never going to see eye-to-eye.
En route to the animal conservation park in Killcare, Adams tries to dissuade Montano from wearing real fur, because “it’s bad manners and disrespect to the people that give their lives to helping animals.”
Montano’s back seat, inexplicably third-person, tantrum is something to behold.
“I was TOLD that I was going on a GLAMOROUS weekend away, so here I am being glamorous in my OWN Victoria Montano way. What I DO is winter fashion!” she yells.
“If you don’t want to be friends with Victoria Montano, that’s fine.”
Terry Biviano takes Adams’ side on this one, taking a designer-heeled step right into the firing line.
“When it comes to friends and family, you praise in public and criticise in public,” Montano says.
“The attacks from Terry felt very personal and it wasn’t what I expected from a friend.”
After some more back and forth, it emerges that Victoria’s fur collar is actually entirely detachable and she can just unclip it from her jacket and leave it in the car.
The Housewives then explore the park, getting up close and personal with koalas, snakes, and crocodiles. After a difficult hour of minimal manual labour, they retire to massages and hard liquor. What a life.
Montano is still salty, and raises the issue again at the evening vegetarian BBQ.
“I’m definitely not going to eat this,” she announces.
One-liner of the week award, once again goes to the fabulous Caroline Gaultier: “Is it really a BBQ without meat? That’s like going to a hooker for a hug.”
Cutting the tension, Krissy Marsh asks Montano how she found the weekend trip.
“I’ll speak … but I just don’t want to be interrupted. At any point. By anyone,” Montano says.
“You’ve seen how I dress for months and have never said anything and you chose to say something five minutes before our arrival.”
Adams defends herself, which earns the bitchiest retort we’ve heard all season: “Keep screaming. Are you OK?”
“Your friend of 10 years is being told to take her clothes off,” Montano directs at Biviano.
Remember: This was about a detachable collar.
Nicole O’Neil wades in, suggesting Adams should have sent a dress code via text, but Montano has had enough and opts to leave early to visit her father in hospital, accompanied by O’Neil.
She declares Adams is “the worst host I’ve ever come across,” and a “lunatic”.
Adams breaks down crying to confidante Sally Obermeder the next morning, saying she felt an immediate bond with Montano and she’s torn up about the argument: “She sees that as me inflicting my values on her. It’s her business. It’s my life. I feel beaten up.”
Next week, Montano attempts to build a bridge, by inviting Adams to a fut event she’s holding.
This unfortunately indicates a gruelling third hour of this argument is to set to play out next Tuesday on BINGE.
