Real Housewives of Sydney episode 4 recap: Housewife labelled ‘abomination’ in explosive fight

The RHOS claws come out on a weekend away. There are tears, tension and trolling over diner, before one housewife dons fur … to wear to an animal sanctuary.

This week, Dr Kate Adams is hosting all the girls for a getaway weekend in Killcare.

Krissy Marsh has decided not to come. She explains to bestie Nicole O’Neil that she feels “uncomfortable” due to her ongoing drama with Adams.

Victoria Montano has anxiety about the medical supplies this far out of Vaucluse.

“I have a bit of anxiety about the next few days, so I’m planning on drinking my way through it. Personally I would never book a house, I think we’ve all grown out of that,” she sniffed.

Montano has packed the essentials: “First the credit card, second the laxatives.” Laxatives because “no one likes eating vegetables”.

Once the housewives have sorted out who is sleeping where in the luxury rental and downed a few cocktails, Adams reveals the plan for the next day.

They’ll all be eating a strict vegetarian diet and doing manual labour, volunteering at a wildlife conservation park in the nearby bushland

More than one cast member visibly struggles to not to admit preferring their charity work to be done from the comfort of an annual gala.

“If I were to invite people away, it’s probably not an activity I’d do with my guests,” fur enthusiast Montano says.

As night falls, in walks Marsh.

Adams and Marsh briefly and unconvincingly make amends in front of the group, before Marsh and O’Neil retire to their twin room to gossip.

“Kate’s upset you called her a lesbian, she’s upset you called her an onion,” O’Neil explains, somehow delivering an utterly ridiculous sentence with a straight face.

Meanwhile, Montano tells the group she “hates animals” except for her pet chihuahua, who can’t bark because she “cut its tongue out.”

A passing comment about her real “python boots,” Montano’s love of pelts, skins and furs becomes the topic of dinner conversation.

Marsh explains how animals are electrocuted and tortured for their pelts, firm in her values: “Wearing, selling, buying, profiteering off an industry that tortures animals is a f**king abomination.”

Montano’s defence is furs are passed down as heirlooms, like jewellery.

Oh, and she only buys expensive ones from Europe, so she’s fairly comfortable the trade is ethical.

Fearing that she may not be central to this storyline, Marsh serves up an incredible segue. She says that the animal rights debate is very similar to her conflict with Marsh over those lesbian jokes. From there, they’re at it again. Adams is denying she’s gay, and Marsh is denying she ever said Adams is gay.

It’s all very high school circa the 1990s, and Caroline Gaultier and Terry Biviano are “over it”.

When Marsh teases “Switzerland” for finally picking a side rather than being “easily neutral”, Biviano arcs up: “I think it’s easier to be a bitch and reactive but I’m not that and if you want to see the bitch, keep poking,” she warns, before telling the group Marsh has been calling Adams “Moaning Lisa”, and also calling Marsh a “shit stirrer.”

“I want to be friends with you and I have given you the benefit of the doubt,” Adams tells Marsh.

“The reality is, it’s f**king mean, Krissy.”

Suddenly, Marsh bursts into tears, claiming the group is ganging up on her and that she has to walk on “eggshells” around them.

Having made at least one cast member cry, the dinner is deemed a resounding success and everyone heads for bed.

The tension hasn’t quite lifted by morning, but everyone gets dressed for the day. Montano puts on her best fur-trimmed coat to show the animals at the sanctuary what fashion they could be.

Adams can’t let that one slide.

“I get that you want to wear real fur – but you can’t go to an animal conservation place in a real fur jacket,” she explains.

Biviano likens the “disrespect” to wearing white to a wedding.

“Well I have. So what should I do?” asks Montano, as if she’s entrapped in her jacket.

A teaser for next week’s episode on Binge shows this altercation will only go further south.
