Radio personality Ben Fordham announces TV wife is pregnant with third child on social media

Talkback radio personality Ben Fordham has announced on social media he is expecting his third child with his news presenter wife. The news comes after he revealed he would like to grow his family in the future.

Talkback radio personality Ben Fordham has announced some big news on social media.

The 2GB host has revealed that he and wife Jodie Speers are pregnant with their third child.

“There’s another baby coming to our family,” he said.

“We had the 18 week scan today. Looking forward to finding out in late September if it’s a boy or a girl.”

Fordham even posted a short video of the ultrasound with the caption: “Incoming”.

In 2014, the then Channel 9 Today sports presenter famously gave up his high-profile job when he and wife, Channel 7 news reader Jodie Speers, agreed it was time to start trying for a family.

At the time, Fordham was balancing both early starts with the TV breakfast show and his afternoon radio program on Sydney talkback station 2GB.

It was a juggling act that would be unsustainable if the pair were to have children.

Speaking on a News Corp Australia podcast last year, Fordham said he’s now able to spend the mornings with his two children.

He was originally in no rush to become a dad following his marriage to Speers in 2011, but since having two children, Fordham revealed how he would like to grow his family in the future.

“I used to always say that I would end up with children one way or another,” he explained. “I was never deadset on having my own children. I’ve always been big on the idea and still have a hope or a thought of adopting a child.

“I used to think to myself that maybe that would be something I’d do.”

Fordham said it wasn’t until he and Speers had eight godchildren between them, that they realised they wanted to start trying for their own.

“I didn’t have a stopwatch on the whole thing, but I was 37 and I think that was a good time,” he said.

Fordham had always wanted to expand his family.

“I have said and I do say to younger guys who are trying to work out what they are doing, and I do give my two cents worth.

“In my experience, I think it’s better for guys to do that [parenting] a little later on. From my experience, I wanted to go and live my life as much as I could … before I settle down and have kids because once it starts it’s pretty full on.”
