Em Rusciano's radio meltdowns

RADIO industry experts have called out Em Rusciano for self-sabotaging her career suggesting she wants to be released from her contract at 2DayFM.

Yesterday the controversial comedian and radio host refused to defend her comments after she slammed her co-hosts Ed Kavalee and Grant Denyer and the 2DayFM bosses and called fellow Sydney media reporters c**ts.

Struggling 2DayFM breakfast show hopes Grant Denyer will lift ratings

“I can’t imagine if you slag off your bosses, your work mates and the media, you can expect to keep your job,” Peter Saxon the editor of RadioInfo said yesterday.

“This cannot go on much longer.

“I think she knows what she is doing. I think she's looking for an out. She cannot be that naive to think that she can say everything she has in public and think there will not be an problem.”

Media commentator James Manning agreed.

“I don’t think Em wants to stay at the station much longer,” Media Week’s Manning said.

“Southern Cross has been developing young talent over the past few years, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see someone fresh fast-tracked to be a new host.”

The comments came as Rusciano refused to explain or defend herself. The Daily Telegraph reached out to Rusciano and 2DayFm yesterday but both refused to comment.

Rusciano was also silent on the matter during her first show since news broke that staff were flee the hostile team.

Staff were said to be leaving the station’s breakfast show amid claims of a dire working environment, with some refusing to work with Rusciano.

One source told The Daily Telegraph several people had left the show and others were looking for other work.

Recent shows have been tense, with Kavalee, Denyer and Rusciano sitting in stony silence as ads or music play.

Sources revealed Kavalee, who has a widely held reputation as one of the most likeable people in radio, was offended by some of Rusciano’s comments about him to Wil Anderson on his Wilosophy podcast.

The Wednesday morning show started with only Kavalee on air, he said Rusciano and Denyer were out making breakfast.

Coincidentally, Anderson was booked as a special guest on the show but there was no mention of his podcast with Rusciano with the interview plugging the next episode of Gruen.

Anderson did later post on Twitter about the situation.

“Em was actually nothing but complimentary about the people she works with, and off air even more so. You can have a listen for yourself and make your mind up about it,” he wrote on Twitter.

Social media users also weighed in on the debate both attacking and supporting Rusciano.

“@EmRusciano is a talentless hack. No wonder @2DayFM staff refuse to work with her,”one user said.

“Gee this woman can’t get along with anyone,” another user wrote.

One support posted on Twitter, “ Dear @EmRusciano for what it’s worth I think you are great”.
