THEY’RE meant to be playing Cupid, but it seems the producers of The Bachelorette are happy to drive a wedge through happy couples in a bid to enlist their ultimate leading lady.
Shine — the production company behind the Channel 10 reality dating show — have begun casting potential Bachelorette’s for the country’s first season of the show, which is set to air midway through this year.
One of the ladies they had in their sights is 25-year-old publicist, Montarna McDonald, who was approached by Shine producers on Thursday asking if she’d be interested in being Australia’s first Bachelorette.
When the director of The Audience Agency told producers she was “very much in a relationship” so unable to participate, an uber ambitious casting agent responded by saying, “and do you see that relationship going anywhere”.
Confidential understands last year’s jilted Bachelorette, Sam Frost, Laurina “dirty street pie” Fleure and Ali Oetjen are also potential choices.
However insiders claim Frost has been “overexposed” thanks to the numerous interviews they’ve done following her much publicised bust up with The Bachelor, Blake Garvey, so she’s no longer in the running.
