Scott Morrison hints at ‘favourite premier’ on Kyle and Jackie O show

Prime Minister Scott Morrison gave a revealing answer on live radio when asked who his favourite state premier is.

How well to Kyle & Jackie O know each other?

Prime Minister Scott Morrison gave a diplomatic response when asked to name his favourite state premier.

During his first-ever interview on the Kyle and Jackie O show on Thursday, Mr Morrison stopped short of confirming that NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian is his top pick.

“Who do you think is the best premier? Pick a child, pick your favourite,” KIIS co-host Jackie O Henderson asked.

Mr Morrison laughed and replied, “Well look, I work with them all. I mean obviously been working very closely with Gladys over these last few weeks and I think she’s been doing an amazing job here of course I do and I know she’s a regular guest of yours.

“Look I work with all the premiers, I work with Steven Marshall down there in South Australia. I work very closely with Dan Andrews down in Victoria or Mark McGowan and Pete down there in Tassie you know, the national cabinet, we meet every week now and we’re meeting again tomorrow.”

Mr Morrison said while they don’t always see eye-to-eye, the group of leaders is committed to working together.

“We don’t always agree on everything. I think it’s unrealistic for people to think that every time [we meet], we agree on absolutely everything,” he said.

“But name me the last time a family got together and agreed on everything … everyone’s got their perspective. The point is you keep meeting, you keep coming together and keep trying to solve problems together.

“There are things that I suspect all of us might’ve done slightly differently as we work through every challenge but we just keep looking forward at the challenges we have to solve.”

Mr Morrison made an appearance on the popular radio program to discuss the support being offered as a result of Sydney’s latest Covid-19 lockdown.

“If you live in Bayside, the City of Sydney, Canada Bay, Inner West, Waverley, Randwick, Woollahra you can make an application today and if you’ve lost more than 20 hours a week or between 8 and 20, you can make a claim for that $600 payment that supports you to get through this lockdown or the $375 payment,” he said.

“You can go onto the MyGov website and be able to access that payment or ring 180 22 66 if you need additional support and from Sunday if you’re across the rest of Sydney and right across New South Wales, you can log on there and do exactly the same thing and that means you can start getting those payments from Friday.”

Henderson asked why Mr Morrison had not previously appeared on their show, which became the number one Sydney breakfast show on both AM and FM last week after toppling 2GB’s Ben Fordham in the latest radio ratings survey.

“Can I ask Prime Minister, why have you never come on our show?” she asked.

Mr Morrison replied, “Well I was waiting for you to be number one, congratulations!”

Henderson noted, “But you’ve been on shows that haven’t been number one before as well.”

He responded saying, “Well here we are and look we’re in the middle of a pandemic and I think it’s really important that I take every opportunity to encourage people through this.

“My fellow Sydneysiders, but it’s the same support for those first two weeks that we provided in other states. Last year, when Victoria was going through that terrible lockdown for months and months we were pouring in about three quarters of a billion dollars a week down there. “So now New South Wales and Sydney needs that support and the government’s doing that. Whether it’s Sydney or Darwin or Perth or anywhere else, if any of these city has a problem then Australia has a problem and that’s why the Commonwealth government turns up wherever it needs to help.”
