Ted Stampfer has delivered his personal collection of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia to Sydney.
The German collector is behind the Marilyn: The Woman Behind The Icon exhibition that will run through until September 24 at the Sydney Town Hall.
“With rare insights and exclusive access to Marilyn’s personal belongings, this exhibition offers a unique glimpse into the private world of this cultural icon,” Stampfer said.
“From humble beginnings to Hollywood stardom, Marilyn Monroe remains an enduring cultural icon, whose life continues to fascinate and intrigue us to this day.
“This is a must-see event celebrating the life of the glamorous, fearless and independent cultural icon.”
Marilyn Monroe of course was born Norma Jean Mortensen before going on to become the ‘blonde bombshell’ characters that made her a Hollywood icon before her untimely death at the age of 36 in 1962.
The exhibition opened at the weekend and features 200 pieces that include personal artefacts, artworks, clothing, beauty products, and her original will and testament.
Stampfer is a super fan who has been collecting the pieces for many years with the exhibition having previously toured the globe with 29 previous stops.
