FRESH from winning her breast cancer battle Sydney PR queen Roxy Jacenko has revealed her fears when doctors discovered a new lump just 12 months after her first diagnosis.

Last year Jacenko underwent surgery for breast cancer weeks after her husband Oliver Curtis was jailed for 12 months for insider trading.

She thought it had returned when doctors recently found a lump on her breast. But this time Curtis was with her as Jacenko steeled herself. Thankfully it was a false alarm.

“I was almost shocked when the doctor said good news,” Jacenko said. “There isn’t an appointment now (Curtis) lets me go to solo.

“I had set myself with the mindset that it was no doubt cancer.”.

This time around Jacenko’s husband was by her side as she faced the news.

“Oli didn’t say anything when sitting there but on departure he commented he felt queasy watching when he saw the size of the core biopsy needle,” she said.

“There isn't an appointment now he lets me go to solo, I try and tell him not to worry and to stay at work but in true form he wants to be there and do whatever he can, there’s no doubt he thinks about the fact he wasn’t around when I was diagnosed in July of last year.”

The PR guru said she now knows she has to keep on top of her check ups, revealing the recent scare was at an appointment which she had delayed.

“I had been rather negligent in getting an MRI, Ultrasound and Mammogram, I need to learn, and as much as I tell myself that without my health I have nothing, it hasn’t quite sunk in yet,” she revealed.

Last week Jacenko signed with Toni & Guy and is helping raise funds for breast cancer charities.

“The only reason I am happy to discuss the recent scare come down to the initiatives companies such as TONI&GUY and ENJO are engaging with to raise money for various Cancer Charities is something that I want to support,” she said.

“Without the support from the Breast Care Nurses I would have really struggled, they gave me so much information, checked in over the phone and were incredible.

“TONI & GUY globally is known as the leader in colour and styling as a partner I couldn’t wish to be aligned with a better company for all things hair.

“As a business I have long admired the Australian teams growth of the global brand here in Australia taking it from a stand alone salon to over 30 Australia wide, that’s something I am proud to be a part of.”

While work has always been good for the business woman, Jacenko has been open about her serious struggles with her husband’s absence. Since his release from prison she said life is better than ever.

“Life is really wonderful. I was living a real life train wreck for 12 months and for a period prior to Oli’s incarceration — it was terrible, yet I had to smile, put my sh*t in my pocket and keep it all together for the business and also Pixie and Hunter,” she said.

“ But then I cracked (breakdown), it still shocks me to this day, given the pressure I was under that it didn’t happen sooner.

“To be a family unit with 100% support from Oli no matter what is wonderful and our children’s smiles have returned — I wouldn’t change my life — I am a VERY lucky girl and its certainly a level playing field now.
