HOURS after it was revealed Rabbitohs star Sam Burgess was embroiled in a sexting scandal, his heavily pregnant wife Phoebe was a no-show for her scheduled appearance at Randwick Racecourse yesterday.
The former journalist and mum-of-one was expected to attend Colgate Optic White Stakes Day in her role as a Colgate ambassador, but opted out, due no doubt, to the media storm it would have caused.

“Phoebe is heavily pregnant, there is no way she could have put herself in that situation,” a close friend said. “The stress would have been all too much.”
The popular blonde was also meant to make her way to on ANZ Stadium last night to watch her husband and brothers-in-law George and Tom take on the Dragons in their much-anticipated sudden death finals clash.
However she also opted out of that.
Whether the couple will attend the Dally M Awards is now also in question, with whispers yesterday that the mother-of-one had cancelled her red-carpet dress for the glamorous event on September 26.
The Daily Telegraph this week revealed the Rabbitohs were throes of an investigation after a complaint from a young woman that she had been sent lewd content by players in May.
Verified social media accounts belonging to Burgess are at the centre of the saga.
Earlier this week, Phoebe, who is 26 weeks pregnant with her second child, spoke about what she planned to wear to Stakes Day yesterday and how excited she was.
“It’s going to be such a good day, I’ll just have to make sure I’m hydrated and well-fed because I’m carrying another little Burgess in here so I’ll need to hydrate like Sam does to prepare for the day,” she said.
