CHOOSING the perfect outfit for the races is a hard enough choice for most women, without trying to dress a baby Burgess bump as well.
Journalist and mum Phoebe Burgess, who is 26 weeks pregnant with her second child, says for her, it’s all about dressing “floaty and fun” when she heads to the races this weekend.
“On race day, I’m going for something quite ethereal and soft,” Burgess, wife of Sydney Souths player Sam and mum to 19-month-old Poppy, told Confidential, “and obviously being Colgate Optic White Stakes Day they have such a great colour palette with a touch of red.
“Red brings out that beautiful colour in your teeth and a red lip really elevates an outfit so it’s the best day to get dressed up for.”
Burgess took part in a Daily Telegraph photo shoot just days before the races on Saturday September 15.
“I find fashion is really fun when you’re pregnant, a lovely softness comes over you and that’s really representative of how I dress,” she added.
“I’ve gone for a poppy which is really appropriate and I really believe fashion can transport your mood so getting into a beautiful fresh outfit for a day at the races is really fun.”
The Colgate Optic White ambassador will have a busy day ahead, rushing from the races to ANZ Stadium to watch husband Sam and her brothers-in-law George and Tom take on the Dragons on Saturday night.
“I am going to get a babysitter and go to Colgate Optic White Stakes Day, there’s no way I’m missing that and Sam is going to prep the way he normally does for a game and I’ll be there in the afternoon before I’ll head out to the stadium.
“It’s going to be such a good day, I’ll just have to make sure I’m hydrated and well-fed because I’m carrying another little Burgess in here so I’ll need to hydrate like Sam does to prepare for the day.”
